Citizenship pathway

A clearer path from questions to next steps.

Explore screening, preparation, professional review, and official filing steps. Use this ARC guide to find resources—not to determine legal eligibility.

THE PROCESS, MADE CLEARER

Three stages.

Adapted from Citizenshipworks’ public process,
with current USCIS filing guidance.

Confirm filing steps. Prepare for the interview.

Follow current USCIS instructions for the correct filing method, documents, and fees. Then follow notices for biometrics if needed, interview, decision, and the Oath of Allegiance.

This is ARC’s independent information guide, not Citizenshipworks’ screening interview, legal advice, or a government service. It does not complete Form N-400, decide eligibility, or create a lawyer-client relationship.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Two navigation preferences help organize your next step. We do not ask for your age, immigration status, case history, identifying numbers, or documents.

Selections stay in this page’s memory, are not saved or sent by this guide, and clear when the page is reloaded. External services have their own privacy rules.

PREPARE FOR A CONVERSATION

A checklist for questions,
not a filing decision.

Use this list to organize preparation. Checking an item does not verify eligibility, complete an application, or replace USCIS instructions.

Book time with an ARC staff member

0 of 5 preparation reminders marked. This is not an application-completeness score.

IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU CONTINUE

Use the right service.
Keep your information private.

Citizenshipworks provides its own screening and application service. Its ARC portal describes access to free or low-cost legal help; confirm ARC’s current scope, credentials, availability, and costs directly. This guide does not promise a free appointment.

When you follow an external link, you leave ARC’s guide. Review that provider’s terms and privacy notice before entering information. Do not send immigration documents or sensitive case details in a general inquiry.

Does this guide tell me if I qualify?

No. It routes you to resources based on what you want to do. Naturalization rules include residence, physical presence, and other requirements; exceptions and special pathways can apply. Use the external screening and qualified legal review rather than treating this guide as an assessment.

Will an application be submitted from this website?

No. This page collects no application data and submits no form. Citizenshipworks preparation is separate from an actual USCIS filing.

Do all applications need to be mailed?

No. USCIS generally offers online and paper filing. Current N-400 instructions specify the appropriate method; requests for a reduced fee or fee waiver require paper filing under the instructions reviewed for this guide. Verify current rules before submitting.

When is the naturalization process complete?

For naturalization, USCIS explains that an applicant is not a U.S. citizen until taking the Oath of Allegiance. Screening, preparation, submission, or an interview alone is not citizenship approval.
